Chicago, Illinois – November 2, 2010 – The Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects just unveiled the winners of its prestigious 2010 Design Excellence Awards. Hundreds of architects, designers, contractors and their clients vie for the awards each year in the categories of Distinguished Building, Interior Architecture, Divine Detail and UnBuilt Design tvsdesign has won one of the top awards: the 2010 Design Excellence Honor Award in the Interior Architecture Category for the Herman Miller Showroom in Los Angeles.

Located in two adjacent warehouse spaces separated by a concrete wall, the Herman Miller showroom is a successful example of adaptive reuse in a revitalized area of Los Angeles. The project has been awarded LEED CI Platinum, the first in Los Angeles, and the first of the 14 LEED Certified showrooms in Herman Miller’s portfolio to receive Platinum certification.

The 18,000-square-foot showroom has energy-efficient lighting and plumbing fixtures, sustainable products and materials, and is the 47th site globally to qualify for the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) platinum rating.
