Raleigh Convention Center, LEED NC Silver

As the centerpiece to recreate downtown Raleigh, the new convention center was designed with North Carolina’s industries and history at heart, woven millwork and an intricate ballroom ceiling reflect the states heritage in textiles and technology.

Strategies to achieve LEED NC Silver certification of the Raleigh Convention Center include: redevelopment of a Brownfield site; a highly reflective roof design to reduce heat island effect; more than 9,512 tons of construction debris were diverted from the landfill; site excavation contributed to the redevelopment of a closed city landfill for recreational purposes; low emitting finishes; an aggressive green cleaning program has been instituted.
