Located in the vibrant Union Square neighborhood in New York City, expressive wood features illustrate Kimball’s strength in wood furniture and creates a rhythm for this showroom. A sophisticated, high contrast color palette, accentuated by cosmopolitan lighting, provides a backdrop for the vignettes without being overpowering.

Kimball’s goal for the New York showroom was to articulate their leadership in wood furniture design. Located in the vibrant Union Square neighborhood in New York City, the showroom reflects the culture of the Kimball Office and National Office furniture brands while differentiating their unique characteristics. Visitors are greeted with expressive wood panels featuring each brand’s logo. The rhythm of the sycamore panels draws one to the rear of the reception space where a dynamic floating wood wall features the Kimball name.

A transverse ceiling plane extends the length of the showroom and guides visitors through the space. The design takes advantage of the close column spacing by extending the column’s lengths to separate and distinguish furniture vignettes. A sophisticated, high contrast color palette, accentuated by cosmopolitan lighting, provides a backdrop for the vignettes without being overpowering. To reinforce Kimball’s environmental stewardship, this project achieved LEED CI Certification.
