The renovated Kimball International showroom is LEED CI Gold certified. During demolition of the former space and construction of the new, 96.5 percent of waste materials were recycled.
Other sustainable strategies for the showroom included: Preservation of natural resources through the use of local, recycled and rapidly renewable materials; Optimization of occupants’ well-being through the use of natural light and monitoring of thermal comfort; Specification of no or low VOC materials; Utilization of GREENGUARD certified furniture; Reflective roofing material reduces heat island effect; Low-flow plumbing reduces water consumption.
